Villa Amaria
Svirče, Hvar
When the owners of Villa Amaria chose the location for their home, they knew exactly what they were doing. Set on a south-facing hill in a wonderfully panoramic position atop the historic village of Svirče, surrounded by acres of whispering olive groves and offering infinite views over undulating hills, this splendid villa is blessed with a sense of homely Dalmatian charm that only increases as one steps over the threshold. With the village konoba only a stroll away, and a short drive to gorgeous beaches and the buzzing town of Jelsa, there's plenty to tempt guests to explore… but once arrived at Villa Amaria you may have little inclination to set foot outside.

Worthy of first mention are the wonderful owners of Villa Amaria. These charming islanders have poured their heart and soul into transforming their second family home, which welcomed its first guests in 2025. Living in separate accommodation next door, they are incredibly attentive to their guests' needs and wishes. Visitors to Villa Amaria will immediately feel at home, simply because it’s already infused with their warmth and care.
INSIDE
Accommodation at Villa Amaria is laid out over three levels.
The entrance to the main house leads into the upper ground floor, which is home to an expansive open-plan living and dining area, as well as the first of Villa Amaria’s four bedrooms. At the centre is a luminous central hallway, from which an elegant staircase descends to the living area, whose chunky and contemporary sofa gazes out to sea via a panoramic window. A wall with another huge window and sliding glass doors brings in the views and provides seamless access to the dining terrace and traditional barbecue – and the atmosphere is at once warm, convivial, bright and airy.
Set back a little from the living area is the superbly equipped kitchen, which features a central dining table large enough for 10, a double fridge/freezer, a large cooker, custom wooden cabinetry, and easy-flowing access to another of Amaria’s several balcony terraces.
Accessed from the other side of the entrance hallway at the back of the house is the first bedroom, a well-proportioned king bedroom complete with TV and an en-suite shower room. Accommodation on this upper ground floor is completed by a guest WC near the main entrance.
Ascending the staircase from the central hallway are two more bedrooms. On the first floor, a queen-sized sofa bed sits beneath a mezzanine containing two single beds – perfect for younger guests, and again with an ensuite bathroom with a shower bath.
For some, the star of the show might be the luminous master bedroom, which is tucked away on the second floor. With its dark wood king bed, its ensuite bathroom with shower and freestanding bathtub, its walk-in closet, its private balcony with seating for two, and its overall sumptuous finish, this is an atmospheric spot indeed.
Finally, the lower ground floor is accessed via steps leading down from the living room. It comprises an open-plan living area with another well-equipped kitchen, the fourth and final bedroom, an additional two full shower rooms, and a dedicated massage room – ideal for deep unwinding without leaving the Amaria's homely comforts.
OUTSIDE
Al fresco life at Villa Amaria largely plays out around this lower floor of the house. A double set of glass doors in the kitchen and living area allows the communal space to spill outside onto a wide expanse of terrace looking out to unobstructed vistas of the island’s countryside. At the centre, encircled by deckchairs and lounge chairs, is the tempting pool. Switch on the pool’s hydromassage function to transform swim time into spa time.
Steps lead down from the pool terrace to the leafy gardens, full of Mediterranean herbs and plants… and a few chickens! Guests can enjoy freshly laid eggs for a true farm-to-table breakfast experience.
Flanking the pool terrace on both sides are two further al fresco sitting areas, meaning that there’s plenty of space for everyone to find their own spot, and a hot and cold outdoor shower adds practicality.

The Area
Villa Amaria is perched on a south-facing hill in a wonderfully panoramic position atop the charming village of Svirče in the heart of Hvar Island.
Svirče is a genuine working village inland on Hvar, set on the gentle slopes that offer panoramic views out to Jelsa and beyond, and shaped entirely by vineyards and agriculture. Wine remains at the heart of life here, influencing the village's rhythm, landscape, and sense of identity.
For visitors, Svirče offers a chance to experience the island from its interior, close to the land and its people. The village is well- positioned for exploring the Stari Grad Plain by bike or on foot, visiting the local winery and olive oil mill, or making easy drives to both northern beaches and the southern coast. Dining here favours substance over spectacle, with an excellent restaurant that draws visitors from across the island. Evenings are calm and social rather than rowdy, often spent outdoors as the heat fades. Svirče suits travellers who want to understand how Hvar works beyond the shoreline, and who value authenticity, wine culture, and a slower, grounded pace of island life.
