Equally suited to small family getaways, three couples travelling together, or a couple’s romantic escape, Casa Barbiere has all bases covered for a pleasure-filled experience on beautiful Hvar Island.
Accommodation at the casa is laid out over two floors.
The main entrance opens into a wonderfully bright and spacious open-plan space with lofty, wood-beamed ceilings. Pastel-coloured walls, stone feature walls, and fixtures in warm wood combine to create a modern yet rustic atmosphere that is replicated throughout the property.
To your right, the living area with a large L-shaped sofa next to a pair of wide, floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that bring in the glorious poolside views. Opening out on to a shaded, al fresco dining area next to the pool, this is a great spot for rustling up and indulging in family feasts.
Beyond the living room is the indoor dining table for 6 and a well-equipped contemporary kitchen with a central island. You’ll find everything you need here to cook delicious homemade meals. Behind the kitchen dining area is a guest WC and laundry room, featuring both a washer and a dryer.
The first floor, reached by a bespoke staircase of wooden stairs rising in front of the living room, is home to all three of Casa Barbiere’s ensuite bedrooms. The master bedroom comprises a king-sized bed, a superb bathroom with a romantic bathtub, and glorious views over the pool terrace. The second bedroom is also an ensuite, this time with a queen-sized bed. The third is a double-twin, also served by an ensuite shower room, is perfect for kids.
Outdoor life at Casa Barbiere revolves around the tempting pool, which sits in between the house and the summer kitchen area. The stone paving of the courtyard fans out around the pool, bordered by colourful flowering plants and wild herbs (help yourself!), and high white-washed walls that enclose you in a sense of privacy. An outdoor shower stands by for a post-swim rinse off. The outdoor kitchen contains a stone sink, barbecue, a food prep area and central bar – all of which add to the practicality of alfresco living. At Casa Barbiere, there's plenty of space for guests to find their own spot or come together for convivial moments.

- Casa Barbiere offers convenient parking options for guests. The main parking spot is located just 10 metres from the property in a public parking area where a designated space has been leased for guest's private use. While the street leading to this parking spot is narrow (as the property is in the charming old town core), medium-sized cars can pass without any issues. If you’re driving a larger SUV, please inform us, and you can make use of the second parking spot, located 100 metres from the property.
- Please note that both parking spaces are within public parking lots, and while they are secured for guests’ use, the parking lot is not private, and the owners accept no liability for any potential damage to vehicles.
- The pool is not heated, therefore may be refreshing before summer's peak.
- Note that construction noise is illegal in this region of Croatia from 1st June – 30th September. If you book outside of this time, i.e. in May or October, there is the possibility of construction noise impacting your stay.
- Restaurants and other establishments mentioned are subject to seasonal availability. Opening and closing dates are determined by the businesses themselves and may vary. Some venues may be closed outside the peak summer season.
The Area
Casa Barbiere is situated a few hundred metres from the centre of utterly charming Jelsa, whose historic architectural treasures, harbourfront restaurants, sandy beaches, and vibrant cafés and bars are all just a stroll away.
Jelsa sits on Hvar’s northern coast as a well-balanced blend of history, everyday island life, and modern convenience. Founded in the 14th century as the port of Pitve, Jelsa grew from a small fishing and agricultural settlement into a shipbuilding and maritime centre, reaching its peak in the 19th century. That era still shapes the town’s elegant layout, from its two broad waterfront promenades to its refined stone houses. Today, Jelsa is one of the most practical bases on the island, with two large supermarkets just outside town, several smaller high street grocery shops, a butcher, a fishmonger, and a lively daily farmers’ market. Social life centres on the main square, set below the parish church, where locals and visitors gather over coffee or ice cream, and the atmosphere remains gently animated from morning through evening.
Jelsa also works exceptionally well as a starting point for exploring both the island and staying put to enjoy its quieter pleasures. Calm, family-friendly beaches such as Mina, Grebišće, and Vitarnja are all within easy reach by foot, while the surrounding countryside opens up to cycling routes and gentle hikes through olive groves, vineyards, and the UNESCO-listed Stari Grad Plain. Daily boat connections, nearby sports facilities, and a slower rhythm than Hvar Town make Jelsa particularly appealing to travellers who want variety without intensity, and a base that feels lived-in rather than performative.
