The Area
Casa Belinda is in the heart of Vrboska. Termed 'Little Venice', this fishing village is renowned for its charming stone bridges, idyllic waterfront, and rich history dating back to the Venetian era.
Vrboska, often referred to as Little Venice due to its picturesque canal, is a charming former fishing village nestled on Hvar's northern coast. Vrboska retains its ancient charm with its Dalmatian stone houses, elegant bridges, and a serene harbour opening to the Adriatic Sea. The village is alive with waterfront restaurants, cafe bars, and cultural landmarks such as the Fortress Church of St. Mary, adding depth to its tranquil ambiance.Accessing Vrboska involves first travelling to Hvar Island, either as a pedestrian, with a car, or by boat. Visitors without a car can easily reach Vrboska via taxi from Stari Grad port, or from the further ports of Hvar Town and Jelsa, while those with a car can take car ferries to Stari Grad or Sućuraj, depending on their point of departure on Croatia's mainland. Yacht and sailboat enthusiasts can dock at the deep marina, enjoying the scenic bay reminiscent of a fjord, steeped in maritime history.
Vrboska offers a range of activities, from exploring nearby beaches like Soline and Paklena to engaging in water sports, cycling around Stari Grad Plain (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), or taking day trips to Bol on Brač Island. Cultural enthusiasts can visit historic landmarks such as the Fortress of St. Mary, Church of St. Lawrence, and the Fishermen’s Museum, while wine enthusiasts can indulge in tastings at the local winery, Pinjata.Dining in Vrboska is a treat with options like Škojić for huge pizza and fresh seafood, Mediteran for gourmet Mediterranean cuisine, and Ružmarin for traditional Dalmatian dishes. Evenings in Vrboska are laidback, ideal for enjoying a glass of local wine by the sea. That being said, Luda Koka is a nightclub on Vrboska's outskirts, offering a mix of disco and late-night entertainment, catering particularly to younger visitors seeking a livelier atmosphere.
